Comme Des Garcons X Nike
If you haven't noticed already CDG has been under your noses the whole time but once again the majority have been sleeping on it. Comme Des Garcons as well as supreme are know for taking a Nike trainer and putting their own twist to it, and this drives the crowd crazy.
Comme Des Garcons, French for "Like Boys" is a Japanese fashion label founded by Rei Kawakbo. Comme des Garcons is based in Tokyo.
Lets take it back to early 2017 where CDG revamped a trainer, which was already popular as it was just recently released and that's the Vapormax.
The trainer features the regular vapormax silhouette with the flyknit upper and exposed air bubble unit, but the twist is the trainer is laceless with two leather strips on either side of the trainer (where the lace holes are supposed to be). As the laces where removed the full effect of the flyknit was taken away as the regular vapormax are held together with fly wire which helps lock the shoe in place giving it that sock like feel. The trainer only has two branding placements, the insole and the leather strips.
CDG did something that is in my opinion quite crazy and they linked up with supreme and made their own AF1. Retail for the original AF1 is about £70 and the supreme x CDG x AF1 went for around £203. This design took a completely different approach on the air force 1. Originally the AF1 is a simple and a stylish trainer, where as the Supreme x CDG gave an illusion that the trainer was plain on one side and once you look around the trainer you will see black and white squares with eyes printed on them. The AF1 is also branded underneath the swoosh (outward side of the trainer)
These could be one of the biggest drops CDG have done so far and they will never go old - the CDG Chuck Taylor.
The COMME Des Garcons Chuck Taylor benefits from a simple Black/White treatment with contrast white stitching or a monochromatic off-white as both pairs show the signature heart and eyes logo peeking out past the midsole.
Be sure to look out for the other two collabs CDG are bringing out. One is the Nike Air 180 and the other is the Air Mowabb.
