‘The Poster Boy of Grime’, Novelist, is Back
‘The Poster Boy of Grime’ is returning, and trust us, you won't miss it! The youth in today's scene are taking over, but for Novelist, it's nothing new!
UK artist Novelist (Kojo Kankam) has gone from strength to strength. Delving into the world of music since he was only six years old, he is now a well respected MC who helped develop the UK grime scene. With his early career starting with performances at local youth clubs and MC freestyles on YouTube, Nov soon found his way onto radio stations such as Rinse FM, Reprezent and BBC 1Xtra, and was nominated Best Grime Act at the 2014 MOBO Awards.
The 21 year old has taken the music scene by storm. Working with the likes of Mumdance, an established Electro producer, Novelist is an artist who thrives of combining unexpected creatives. Bringing the electro sound and grime together, this was the first crossover collaboration of its kind. And it didn't stop there. Aged 17, 'Bigger Man Sound' came into fruition, the collab of Nov and Chase and Status. 18, Nov caught the attention of UK icon Skepta, who featured him on his award-winning album 'Konnichiwa', with he two co-writing the track 'Lyrics'.
Some may have thought Novelist had recently gone a bit quiet, but from the recent work that he has teased us with, we now know that his time ghosting was for him to develop his latest project that we are more than excited to hear! Catch some of his latest work produced by Tom Misch up on the Blaized Spotify Playlist and some tracks from his latest album 'Novelist Guy' down below.
From a more poetical, chill vibes stance to the hype and energetic Nov that we all know and love, his latest body of work not only showcases his vast skill set and unexpected crossovers, but there is truly something for everybody.
And for you classic grime lovers, check out one of Nov's latest collaboration with emerging producer JD. Reid on the track 'Ready', a song more reflective of Nov’s grime centric beginnings.
The return of Novelist, I hope you're ready....
